AQCIE introduces its new president

Michel Gariépy, Chair of the Board of Directors of AQCIE (the Association of Industrial Electricity Users of Quebec), is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jocelyn B. (“J.B.”) Allard as AQCIE’s new president, effective September 12, 2016.

Mr. Allard is a lawyer with degrees in economics and political science. Prior to joining AQCIE, he was an executive with Gaz Métro. Over the course of his impressive career, he was namely director of government relations and legal affairs and then an executive strategic advisor. He also held important roles within the regulatory field for over a decade. With his extensive knowledge of the energy sector and experience before Quebec’s energy board, he will ably take over from our executive director, Mr. Luc Boulanger, through a transition period ahead of Mr. Boulanger’s retirement.

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding contributions and many accomplishments of Mr. Boulanger to the benefit of AQCIE, its members and industrial companies with operations in Quebec. All benefit from the rate-making and regulatory gains obtained over the years by AQCIE under his leadership.

AQCIE’s Board of Directors is confident that Mr. Allard brings the experience and expertise required to continue to promote the interests of industrial electricity users so that they can maintain and increase their unique contributions to Quebec’s economy.

Well-versed in energy regulation and familiar with Quebec’s energy board, Mr. Allard will carry on the work of AQCIE, while maintaining his extensive network of contacts among governmental decision makers and industry associations. Mr. Allard is a good communicator and will continue to promote AQCIE’s strong presence in the media.

We trust you will join us in wishing Mr. Allard success in furthering our association’s strategic role.
